About

One word for cupboard – used mainly in Hiberno and Scottish English – is press.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a press is a large cupboard, usually with shelves, especially one that lives in a wall recess, and is used to store such things as linen, clothes, books, crockery and other kitchen items.

I’ve posted a picture of mine, which is – specifically – an Edinburgh Press.

For the past five years I have been adding to my own creation: an online Edinburgh Press of writing. My name is Eimear Bush, I am an Irish woman, hailing from the north coast of County Antrim, and I’ve come to rest, for the time being, in Scotland’s capital.  I’m glad you have found your way here, to my growing collection of short essays, observations, musings on life. Welcome, I hope you enjoy it.  Feel free to drop me a line.
